Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
We have a short but full week. Please check in with your child's teacher for this week's special events for their class.
Thursday, November 28 & Friday, November 29: Schools are closed for Thanksgiving.
Once again, thank you for sending in your food donations. At this time, we will no longer be collecting food donations. The local school we were partnering with thanks us for our support and generosity! We were able to provide 45 families a full Thanksgiving meal this season- they are grateful!
We continue to collect pajamas for our Pajama Drive- remember our goal is 300 sets. Ms. Jainnie will be sending the amount of pajamas we have collected so far this week. The Pajama Drive will end on December 4th.
Thank you to the families who attended our Financial Workshop and Potluck! The dishes were yummy!
Many of our families have been hearing about the District 28's Diversity Plan. Please click on our "Families" tab and scroll down to the "Districtwide Involvement" section for more information.
Please check in with PTA for their various announcements regarding sibling photos and retakes; pie pick ups; Yuval's Toy drive; and other fundraisers they are hosting.
Monday, December 2: "On Stage with Mrs. Leto" from 8:30-9:30AM. Please RSVP on our Google Calendar. Parents of children with allergies and other medical conditions that require medication need to attend this event as we will be discussing trip protocols and documenting with the nurse.
Tuesday, December 3: photo retakes and sibling photos. Please reach out to PTA for details.
Tuesday, December 3: Town Hall Meeting at 2:30PM. Please RSVP on our Google Calendar. We will be addressing any safety concerns you may have.
Wednesday, December 4: SLT meeting at 7:30AM.
Tuesday, December 10: Kindergarten Open House for New Families. This Open House is for families who are not in AEA. For our PreK families, there will be a separate informational session to discuss Kindergarten applications. We will send the date soon.
Please do not double park during arrival and dismissal. This poses a danger for our families crossing the street and prevents other school buses from getting to their pick up locations.
When sending food containers into school, please refrain from sending in anything made of glass. Glass water bottles and snack containers are dangerous to handle in a school setting. If your child comes in with a glass container, we will not allow them to bring it into the cafeteria. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
A printed December calendar will be sent home this week. Please note the date change for the "Winter Cultural Celebration". It will now be on Thursday, December 19th. A letter will be sent home with details about the event.
If your child is home sick, please call the office before 8AM to report the absence. In order for an absence to be excused, a doctor's note must be sent in when they come back to school. While we discourage families from taking trips during school days, if the trips are unavoidable, please send in your travel itinerary. We can include the documents in your child's permanent file when we log their reason for absence into the system. Please be mindful of your child's absences (and latenesses) as they do impact your child's academic success. If you have questions about the attendance policy, please reach out to Ms. Jainnie. She can connect you with our district's Attendance Coordinator.
Safe travels to our families who are traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. Have a wonderful break!
